Long time gone

Wow!! It has been a year since I have posted on this thing. I swear I've been around. I constantly think of things to post on here but never do since it has been so long. Do I still have peeps that read this? Even if there is no one who reads this I'm going make this my online journal if nothing else.

Here's a quick glimpse as to what has been happening since we left off:
Feb 2010
Birthday/bachelorette trip to New Orleans
Found a house we loved and put a contract down
March
11th we signed on the dotted line and became homeowners!
Prep for the wedding
April
Parties and showers galore
May
The big day finally arrives. 16 months of planning. 8 and a half years of love lead to this amazing day. Though it had it's hiccups, it was fabulous and We loved every minute.
Two weeks in Europe for our honeymoon was fabulous. I want to do it again now!
June
Hubby's parents filed for divorce. Boo ;(
July-December
Pretty busy with work. It's our busy busy time. Pretty low key time for us
We hosted Christmas for the first time
January
Annual New Years Eve party
We celebrated being together for 9 years
February
Celebrated my 25th birthday. It was pretty low key. We went to the Texas Roller Derby for the first time. It was a lot of fun. Highly recommend going, just get there early.
March
Gearing up for the wedding season. We are at that age when many of our friends are getting hitched. We have 4 weddings to attend this year so far. We are blessed to be participating in 2 and possibly 1 more towards the end of the year.

It's been a busy year but I love my life right now!

Photos of most of these events coming soon!!
Sorry it has been so long

Final Countdown

We are now well into the teens of this countdown to the wedding. According to my handy-dandy ticker we down to 17 days! Way exciting in my book. So what does this bride-to-be do with 17 days left you might ask...

Not a whole lot.

I just finished emailing my final vendor about final balances. Those payments will be made within the next week (my bank account doesn't like this part). 98% of the DIY projects were finished a few weeks ago and are now packed away in our loft area happily labeled with directions for my ideal placement. I'm sure our coordinator thinks I'm crazy. Purchased trip insurance on our honeymoon since that pesky little volcano decided to spew ash in the sky and close down the airspace in Northern Europe, which is where we are slated to fly into! Mother panicked and said that I had to purchase this, at her expense I might add, so I obliged.

Things left to do (lists with bullet points! aka how I stayed sane through this whole thing):
*Procure marriage license-to happen next week
*Bachelor/Bachelorette parties - this weekend
*Shopping & packing for the honeymoon - already started
*Final head counts - in the process of calling all of the missing
*Stuffing utensil bags -waiting on caterer to give me the OK to come by and pick up utensils.
*Finishing gift bags for the girls - all the stuff is purchased, just need C's aunt to embroider their names on the bags.
*Purchase my mom's birthday/mother's day/thank you gift - I'm getting her the Barnes and Noble Nook Reader. She's a huge reader and travels quite a bit so I figured this would be perfect and I get a discount with B&N through work!
*Enjoy every minute of these last two weeks as a single gal!

I can't wait!

Catch up

Ahhh…we’re 31 days out people. In 31 days I’m going to be walking down the aisle to meet my best friend and become his wife! I’ve waited 8 years to do this and I’m ecstatic about it. But…there is so much going on right now to get through these 31 days.

My goals and things to do:
*Have all of the wedding DIY things completed by April 30. Very do-able. I have a great support group that I haven’t used yet and I know they are all chomping at the bit to help. The list is getting shorter every day. So this weekend they are coming over to help put together programs and any other projects that I need completed.

*Organize everything for the wedding into boxes and label, label, label. Oh the joys of moving into a much larger house just before your wedding, completely empty extra bedrooms! One of ours has now become “wedding central” as I like to call it or its other nicknames “wedding room” or “room full of crap” on bad days. Everything is in a pile sitting next to its box. I just need to sit down and make up lists and detailed instructions as to where everything should go. This list also needs to go to the coordinator sooner than later.

*Confirming with vendors about balances, arrival times, and finalizing orders.
*Rehearsal dinner invites left yesterday. Very cute for the 30minutes worth of work and design that were put into them. Definitely work into the feel we were going for since our RD will be at Iron Works BBQ. Yum Yum.

*Final dress fitting is scheduled for May 3! Down fall…it’s 2 days after Bachelorette party and complete intoxication from what I’ve been told by the girls.

*Guys are getting their suits altered. Now we need to finalize and find all of Carl’s accessories (shoes, belt, and hat). We finally found the socks that he wanted after months of searching and debates. And what did we end up with…the exact ones we talked about at the very beginning. Whatevs.

*Marriage license. Big thing!
*Tracking down some 8oz bottled Dublin Dr. Pepper for a decent price. I’ve looked online to have it shipped from Dublin but I’m not willing to spend $100 in shipping charges. For that price I would just drive to Dublin, but I don’t have the time to do so. Any one know where this could be found, please let me know. It’s the last major missing thing.

Weight loss
I officially weighted myself this morning and I’m sitting at 146.4 lbs. Not too bad. I haven’t done any WW since coming back from New Orleans. I’ve tried to get back into it, but I fail when we drive past Torchy’s Tacos or Chik-fila. I’ve been doing some crunches, leg lifts, and push ups every night at home. I feel like my tummy is going down and I don’t look so bloated. We have a gym in our neighborhood, but I have yet to use it. I’m hoping after this week and all of the vendor meetings and DIY stuff done I can hit it up. I would love to start the Couch to 5K program, but we will see. I could definitely use a stress release in all of this.

The invites

The invitations have mostly gone out. My mom STILL hasn't given me her list. We're 7 weeks out and I have already received many RSVPs back.

Here are my results of my blood, sweat, and tears. Not really but lots of time.
Do I love them? YES
Would I do it all over again? Probably not.

Oh the twists and turns of life

I’ve been slacking on updates lately, but I have a good excuse I promise. We’re buying a house! We are officially under contract and have an inspection today and a meeting with our loan officer as well. Things at home have been a little crazy and have taken many twists that we weren’t expecting. We’re super excited, but I’m totally fretting over the financing. Carl is totally cool and calm, while I’m the ball of nerves, up wide awake at 2:30 this morning.

Weight Watchers: This week I weighed in at 145.2lbs. I’m pretty happy with only losing a pound this week. I have definitely fallen off the past week. Eating Chick Fila, Wendy’s, cupcakes, ribs and queso at the Super Bowl Party, and Dr Peppers didn’t help the weight loss plan. I’ve been a little stressed with the house buying and my go to foods when stressed are high fat and high salt. Even though they taste amazing and I needed a little taste of the goodness that these foods provide, I didn’t need them all in one week. Next week is going to be a non-Weight Watchers Week for my Birthday/Bachelorette weekend to New Orleans!

Wedding: My dress came in!!!!!!! I have my first fitting tomorrow. All of my bridesmaids and my mom will be there. No one has seen the dress except for my mom. The rehearsal dinner is in the final stages of being planned. Thank goodness! More decorative items are being completed including our reserved seating signs, bar menu, aisle décor, and menu board. The invitations are nearing the final stages and should be out the door on March 15, which is also our closing day. Things are finally starting to come together and I’m getting really excited for the wedding in 92 days! Holy cow it’s coming fast!

WWT

It’s WW Tuesday already! I’m pleased to report that my weight for the week is 146.0 lbs, down 9lbs in 5 weeks! I have met my first WW goal of losing 5% of my body weight. Now we’re onto 10%. The weight to hit is now 139.5 lbs. The mid-130s is where I would ideally like to land at the end of the weight loss. The sad news in all of this is that I lost a food-point for reaching this goal. Boo…

But some more good news, I’m officially down a jean size from a 10 to an 8. The 8s are even getting loose on me. I tried on some of my jeans in a size 6 hidden in the back of my closet. Surprisingly I can fit in them. They don’t look great yet, but they would work if I was slacking on laundry duty.

Here’s to loosing more weight, being healthy, and praying my dress arrives before Feb 17 so I can get a fitting in before my girls-only trip to the Big Easy! There’s no WW in New Orleans.

Life update

Last week there really wasn’t much to update everyone on. Things were calm, cool, and collected around our house two weeks ago. We very much enjoyed it. So much so that I put off doing any house work or laundry, which is what consumed my precious weekend. This past week was a total change from the previous week. I made steady head-way on the wedding front (details coming Wednesday), cleaned the house-ish (I got everything picked up and put in its place. The house just needs to be vacuumed and moped, which shouldn’t take too long.), and attempted to drive myself nuts.

Here’s how to make Kristin crazy:

Add the following ingredients and you’re bound to make any person crazy.
1 part wedding nearing the 100 day mark
1 part interviewing for a new position at work
1 part second interview for new position
1 part financial review and budgeting overhaul
1 part deciding to buy a new home (this lead to the financial part)

There you have it, the perfect concoction to make anyone loose it for a little while. To say the least I am attempting to change just about everything to do with my life. We are getting everything together and will hopefully be putting in an offer on a house this week. Exciting! We’re super excited but still really nervous and trying hard not to get our hopes up. The same with the job position at work, which I’m pretty sure I won’t be getting. It’s a little bit of a bummer, but I had to make it known that I am interested in moving up in the company and want bigger things.

The next few weeks and months are going to be a little crazy and definitely hectic, but I’m ready for it. I’m ready for the change (normally I would be fairly against) and want it.
